Aix-en-Provence is the city of fountains. When you walk around, you come across fountains in every corner of the city. Large or small, they adorn the city and have been part of the landscape since the creation of the city. Let's present the one that is considered the most beautiful, the Rotonde fountain.

The Place de la Rotonde was created in 1777 to provide a dignified entrance to the city via the Cours Mirabeau, and to open an axis towards Avignon and Marseille. The difference in height between the square and the Cours Mirabeau was filled with the remains of the count's palace demolished shortly before the revolution because the building was found to be terribly dilapidated (you can see the model at the Vieil Aix museum)
